Our neighbor to the southeast, Peter Castner, has asked for our assistance with regard to two specific situations as follows:
- If you need to access your dinghy on the south side, inside, dinghy float, next to the bulkhead, do not walk up the stone steps to his parking lot. Please come back via the CYC dock and ramp.
- If you are tying a dinghy or whaler to the south side of the outside dinghy dock, please tie bow and stern next to the dock. Do not let it hang on a bow line only. This interferes with Mr. Castner's ability to land his boat on his dock.
BALCONY WEIGHT LIMITATIONS
Please be aware that no more than 15 people are permitted on the 2nd floor interior balcony of the Clubhouse great room at one time and no more than 20 are permitted in the exterior balcony/covered porch at any one time.
Camden Yacht Club
Rules and Regulations
This is a friendly, general, reminder of some of our more basic do's and don'ts. Most are obvious, but it is good to remind everyone as the CYC season approaches, as follows:
- Parking - Often a problem at lunch time and for social events. The protocol is that, if you park behind someone, you MUST leave your keys in the car - no exceptions. We are scheduling our Launch Drivers such that, hopefully, one will be available to assist in moving cars around. Please no long term, overnight, parking at CYC. If you must leave your car overnight, please secure permission and a place to park it from the Dockmaster or Launch Driver on duty. All CYC member cars must have a sticker. See Elaine Booker in the office.
- Cell phones - NO, not welcome. Please turn them off when using the CYC facilities. If you must speak with someone on your cell, do it in your car or on Bay View Street.
- Trash/Dumpster - For use only for trash from your boat or returnables from an outing on your boat. Please deposit trash bags directly in the dumpster, inside the fence, in the corner of the parking lot. Returnables go in the barrel so marked on the boathouse porch
- Dogs - On leash at all times. NEVER on the front lawn or in the clubhouse for sanitary reasons. Cleanup after your dog. Poop bags are available in the Dockmaster's office.
- Ice Machine - Ice costs money. If you do not pay, it costs ALL CYC members money. Please either pay cash to the Launch Driver or leave a note in the Dockmaster's office with your name and how much ice you took and you will be billed.
- Business use of docks and launch - CYC is NOT a commercial marina. If you are obtaining revenue from your boat, please use commercial services available in the area and charge your customer accordingly.
- Adult children and guests using the CYC facilities - MUST be accompanied by the member. Please do not send your adult children and/or other guests to CYC for lunch without you and tell them to "just charge it to me". You must accompany them.
- Shoes are required in the dining area per Board of Health regulations.
- The CYC office is open to members for club related business 1-3 PM, Monday through Friday. Please visit during these hours. Call (207-236-7033) or email (cyc@midcoast.com) during other hours.
- Life jackets are required for all children under 12 years old on docks and floats without an adult and for all sailing students. Swimming off the floats is discouraged. Sitting along the sea wall, especially for small children, is dangerous. Please use caution.
- The CYC docks and floats are attached to the CYC property. Our neighbors on either side have their own docks and floats. Please respect their private property.
All of the above are common sense. Please use common sense at all times and enjoy the use of your club.
The Yacht Club has been added to the list maintained at the Town Office of those businesses and organizations that have pledged not to apply toxic chemicals to their lawns. This is one of several "going green" steps being taken or considered by the Club.
